If I remember correctly this place was started from someone from CN? amirite?

I have a question for all of you that understand what goes through the head of stupid people. I understand that under a cloud of patriotism, the American people were amped to go to war with the "people that caused them so much pain". Now the question I am asking is why did Bush try to mask these invasions as a search for WMDs, and why after we didn't find these WMD's, are we still in the war. Isn't it obvious to the people in charge that forcing democracy on a people is as tyrannical as the so called dictators they pushed out? Isn't it also obvious that it is impossible for us to get rid of terrorism completely? Another probably stupid question is why, if Democrats are so opposed to the war, is Barack Obama still continuing it?

As for your post:

You bring up many complicated questions. It can't be answered simply. This "cloud of patriotism" was due in part by 9/11. After an event like that what do you do? Shrug your shoulders? I think not. Going into Iraq was a bad decision. It was a failure on the intelligence community to provide bad intelligence which led to that invasion. Ideally, after not finding these WMD's we should have left Iraq but conveniently, we made a bigger mess of the country which is now filled with insurgents. That mess needs to be cleaned up. I believe Obama said combat operations would end in August 2011.

In an ironic twist, forcing democracy onto a country is tyrannical in its own sort of way. But supposedly, a democratic system is safer for the country and of course, in US interests. It is obvious to me that you cannot get rid fo terrorism completely. You can't get rid of communism but you can contain it and isolate it.

Democrats don't like the war by this point, but no one in their right mind would just simply pull out. As much as I would love for this war to end, it is just not practical. I wish these questions you brought up have simple obvious answers, but you need to take into account how such actions would affect the situation.
